Turnover at the helm of Haryana's chief secretary was taken over by TVSN Prasad
With the unexpected appointment of TVSN Prasad, the present Home Secretary, as the new Chief Secretary, the Haryana government has shaken up its top administrative leadership. Sanjeev Kaushal, who is now serving as chief secretary, is on leave at the time of this move. Prasad will continue to handle the Revenue and Home ministries in addition to serving as Chief Secretary in Kaushal's absence, according to a government order published on Friday.
Since August 2022, Prasad has been serving as the manager of the Home department. He is a seasoned civil servant who started his career in 1988. Furthermore, he was assigned the duties of the supplementary chief secretary for Revenue in September 2023. General Administration, Personnel and Training, Human Resources, Parliamentary Affairs, and Vigilance are some of the main areas that Prasad would handle as Chief Secretary.
An IAS officer from the 1986 batch, Sanjeev Kaushal, is set to retire this year on July 31. As the next most senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in Haryana, Prasad will succeed Kaushal as chief secretary when the latter retires. With few exceptions, the government always selects the senior IAS official to serve as Chief Secretary. On the other hand, Prasad will be retiring on October 31 of that year, thus his time as chief secretary will be short.
Not only has the Chief Secretary been appointed, but other important administrative roles have also changed hands. T L Satyaprakash, who is currently the Chief Administrator of Haryana, will also be the managing director of Haryana Minerals Limited in New Delhi, with Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran. Now that he has taken on the role of commissioner in Gurgaon, R C Bidhan will also be the secretary of the Haryana Department for Scheduled Castes. In addition, Dr. Bramjeet Singh Rangi of Palwal ADC will now serve as the district municipal commissioner for Palwal, while Pradeep Singh of Nuh ADC will do the same for Nuh district.
In addition, the Heritage and Tourism department has appointed Kala Ramachandran, an IPS officer currently serving as ADGP (administration), as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD). In the meantime, Deepak Saharan has been promoted to the position of superintendent in Rewari from the position of superintendent in Karnal, replacing Shashank Kumar Sawan.
The government's continuous endeavours to enhance administrative efficiency and governance in Haryana are reflected in these reforms. Appointments and reassignments of key personnel are crucial to the state's ability to adapt to changing conditions, keep operations running smoothly, and meet new demands as they arise.
