Tourists and residents of Chandigarh are now obsessed with visiting Sukhna Lake, and the reason for this is more than just admiring the lake's breathtaking surroundings. Rather, it's the recently installed "Pizza ATM" by the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO), which can make pizzas in just three minutes.
The pizza vending machine, the first of its kind in north India and the sole working one as of right now, was installed sometime last month, according to CITCO officials who spoke with The Indian Express. A comparable gadget was previously installed in a Mumbai train station.
"We got the idea of the Pizza ATM from France," stated Dr. Rohit Sharma, the licensee of iMatrix World Wide, the company that operates the pizza kiosk. We chose to construct the machine entirely in our Mohali facility because it was costly.
A comparable device had been installed in a Mumbai train station by iMatrix World Wide, but following Covid, the company's response waned and they were forced to close the kiosk.
Sharma commented on the Sukhna Lake pizza vending machine, saying that it currently prepares about 100 pizzas a day on average. On weekends, the number can increase to as high as 200 or 300.
