The BJP-Akali Dal combination has the support of Capt. Amarinder Singh.

Captain Amarinder Singh, a BJP leader and former chief minister, has stated that he is in favour of an alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Singh, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi later that evening, stated that this arrangement will be advantageous to both parties in an interview with a news channel on Monday. He added that former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Punjab BJP state president Sunil Jakhar, who likewise supported such an alliance, had been consulted about this reconciliation.

Remarkably, talks about this partnership were ongoing, but they came to a standstill following the farmers' "Dilli Chalo" protests. According to sources, Singh spoke with JP Nadda, the national head of the BJP, on this issue as well. After the three farm laws were passed in September 2020, the Akali Dal broke off its relationship with the BJP.

Singh expressed hope for a robust SAD-BJP coalition in Punjab, highlighting the possible advantages of forming such ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He emphasised the need to listen to farmers' concerns about their unrest while denouncing any form of violence in response to their agitation. "They should not resort to violence, but they have every right to protest in Delhi."He claimed to have met with PM Modi to discuss a number of Punjab-related matters. He stated that farmers were the PM's greatest priority.

Singh stated that it is too soon to comment on the Center's proposition to the farmers who are protesting until it is formally publicised.Speaking at a dharna held outside his home by BKU Ugrahan activists, Singh reaffirmed his unshakable support for farmers and said the ongoing agitation would not harm the BJP's reputation.

Amarinder reaffirmed his unwavering support for farmers and said that the state leadership has communicated their concerns to the BJP high command for a speedy resolution. He was joined by his daughter, Jai Inder Kaur, who is the President of Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha.
