The industry in Punjab has addressed a statement to the farmer unions expressing support for them while emphasising the need to take into account Punjab's economy and industry, in light of the barricading of the Punjab-Haryana borders in response to the 'Dilli Chalo' appeal by several farmer unions, which has affected regular commuters.Badish Jindal, the president of All Industries Trade Forum (AITF), wrote a letter to Sarvan Singh Pandher, the coordinator of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), stating that Punjab's industry "fully supported the farmers during the Kisan agitation against farm laws from November 26, 2020, to December 9, 2021." "We faced losses due to longer routes for raw materials, increased expenses, and clients avoiding Punjab," Jindal continued, "even though we supported the protest." When protesting, please keep Punjab's interests in mind and make sure they don't interfere with everyday life.
"We fully support your demands, but consider our business and Punjab's economy," Jindal emphasised. Punjabis are suffering from the unrest brought on by the national government's reluctance to respond to the demands of the farmers. We implore you to demonstrate without interfering with daily life. The head of the Chamber of Industrial and Commerce and Undertakings, Upkar Singh, urged farmers and industries to work together. "Farmers need to understand the impact on industry, where many farmers' sons work," Singh emphasised. Please protest without interfering with regular activities or business; industry is crucial.
Notably, farmer union officials Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarvan Singh Pandher stressed that farmers have not obstructed highways, blaming the Haryana government for this."We are being defamed by the union government, portrayed as terrorists, leftists, and accused of political backing," Pandher said in an attempt to vent his fury. On January 2, we shouted "Dilli Chalo" at Jantar Mantar, but the administration disregarded us. No one would be impacted if permitted. Instead, the Haryana government opposes our farmers and impedes our progress by using tear gas and rubber bullets.
