In order to fill the 10 Haryana seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, the Congress has started the process of shortlisting prospective candidates. The party high leadership has received applications from at least 299 candidates who are looking for seats for the next Lok Sabha elections.
Bigwigs are not represented among the party employees who are currently applying for Lok Sabha election tickets. Former Vidhan Sabha speaker and senior Congress politician Kuldeep Sharma's son Chanakya Pandit from Karnal and retired IPS officer Subhash Yadav from Gurgaon are two of the few well-known figures who have applied for party tickets.
For the Sonipat Lok Sabha seat, there can be up to 79 ticket claimants; for the Rohtak Lok Sabha seat, there must be at least three.
Except for a few seats, "there is a lot of enthusiasm among the party workers and leaders on all other seats," Deepak Babaria, Haryana's party affairs coordinator, told The Indian Express.
The party workers are staking their claim to compete, and it's a healthy competition. On February 13, the screening committee will meet, and the suggestions will then be forwarded to the party high command. The candidates will be named following the final meeting, which is scheduled for this month's 15th or 16th in New Delhi, according to Babaria.
